Exercise and Mood: Proposal Paper Mapping
Does exercise affect mood in a positive manner when performed regularly?
I believe that exercise is a good way to boost mood and this will be proven by both my research and my experiments.
1. I will use "The Impact of Exercise Intensity on Mood of Participants in Dance Aerobics Programs" as it includes a detailed account of mood state before and after different intensities of workouts and comes to a concise decision with solid evidence that exercise increases energy and decreases negative factors.
2. "Neuroscience of Exercise: From Neurobiology Mechanisms to Mental Health" as it goes into the neurological response to exercise and the benefits to mental health.
3. "Improvement of Mental Health and Depression of College Students by Physical Exercise" as it has a detailed account of the research done with understandable graphs and relates to my own research on myself as I am also a college student.
4. "An Examination of Objectively-measured Sedentary Behavior and Mental Well-being in Adults Across Weekdays and Weekends" because it proves the fact that being sedentary leads to a lower mood and that sitting time below 8 hours a day is associated with better mood. and
5. "Aerobic Exercise for Adult Patients with Major Depressive Disorder in Mental Health Services. A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis" because it is a very detailed research account that comes to the conclusion that exercise lowers the effects of depression.
I will be documenting my own experiences with mood change after exercising in a before and after journal for my own research.
